Early Life

Garitty was born on July 5, 1990 in Upland, California. At the age of 15, he started working professionally as a product photographer for clients in Portland, Oregon, and in 2011, he left college to pursue a career in photography. When Garitty was a child, he would harvest lettuce from his family garden and sell it door to door in the hopes of becoming the neighborhood ‘Lettuce King.’ [1]

Career

Garitty started to make a name for himself as an international sourcing consultant for startups in Portland. Garitty constantly volunteered to take on any projects these agencies in Portland needed help with, which broadened his skills from photography to the wider marketing industry. In 2013, Garitty successfully started his marketing agency, FPW Media, in Springfield, Oregon. Built for a fast-paced world, FPW brands itself as an “unagency” that follows practices not necessarily traditional to most marketing agencies. FPW pushes past the noise of the digital world by creating meaningful media content and effective marketing strategies for clients worldwide.

In 2018, Garitty directed Lionhearted [2] , an award-winning and critically acclaimed documentary film and multimedia project that elevates veterans' combat experiences and stories, focusing on their post-war lives and emphasizing the need for a sustained platform through which to relay their stories. The film’s moving visuals, composed of interviews juxtaposed with combat footage, highlight the profound and moving realities of many of our nation’s heroes.

In 2022, Garitty started working on Translating Chaos: the untold story of the interpreters left to die in Afghanistan. This project is a five-episode docu-series that aims to give a voice to Afghan nationals who served as translators, interpreters, and advisors during the 20-year-long Afghanistan war. These nationals put themselves and their families in danger by serving alongside U.S. military forces but were left behind when the United States withdrew from Afghanistan in 2021. The docu-series is currently in pre-production and seeking additional funding after facing many challenges, including travel logistics and security concerns related to traveling to Afghanistan.

Garitty has served as FPW’s Founder and Lead Creative for the past ten years. He has grown the company to include over 50 employees serving clients from a variety of industries.
