Urja Joshi, born on 28th march 2002 to Mr. P.S Joshi (father) & Mrs. Lata joshi (mother) is the youngest best-selling author in India. She is also an illustrator, podcaster, speaker, and songwriter.

Early Life

Urja Joshi's writing career started at the age of seven when she discovered a passion for reading books. Urja turned to writing personal diaries as a way to express herself and discovered that it was a expressive medium in which she could express herself freely. Urja's father has an extensive book collection, and she attributes her passion for art and literature to her parents. Her parents have always been avid readers. Urja Joshi spent her childhood writing, expressing herself through words, and reading books. she recalls that her first goal in life was to take her writing on a larger scale. She started writing professionally by creating an Instagram account and sharing little excerpts of her works there.

Notable Works

When Urja Joshi was just fifteen years old, she penned her first book, THE TEN STEPS. Her reputation at the institution and even in her hometown of Dehradun was much enhanced by the non-fiction and self-help genre. Urja had a long two-year sabbatical from writing after her first book to concentrate on her studies, the burden of her studies kept her away from writing. Following a lengthy hiatus, Urja Joshi's second book, THE MAGICAL LIFE, was published on February 14, 2019. It covered a mature subject for a writer of her age and included several advice pieces and recommendations for improving life. she had to return to school to finish her 12th grade and close the chapter of high school in her life. She described it as a project that she respects because she wrote about the realities of life at a very young age. She continues, saying that she has come to believe that her dreams will come true if they are meant to be and created her most well-known piece of writing so far, Yellow: The Verses of Hurting & Healing, a novel in its own right that blends prose and poetry with themes of healing and grief. The success and positive overwhelm from the release of Yellow, sent urja on another lengthy hiatus in her career of 3 years, in 2024 she released her another successful book “3:40 A.M.” her fourth overall and second poetry book.

Awards and Achievements

She garnered numerous accolades, including "Best Poetry Author 2021" and "Best Female Author 2020," making her the youngest best-selling author in India. In 2020, she was recognized as the most influential woman of the younger generation, and Yellow remained among the top 100 novels for three months following its publication. In 2024, on the occasion of women’s day, Urja won the PHENOMENAL WOMEN RECOGNITION, a felicitation of women who have proved that they are super heroines in their field of work. She enjoys experimenting with her work as an artist, and she is interested in writing books across various genres.

Education

She completed her bachelor’s degree from Delhi University in 2023 and continues writing on Instagram. In 2024 she flew to Toronto, Canada to pursue her higher studies. One day, she hopes to embark on a book tour and write songs in collaboration with numerous musicians. She aspires to be a young author who inspires her readers and who makes poetry accessible to individuals from many nations, cultures, and ethnic communities. She wants her works to follow the example considering writing breaks down all barriers.
