SMK Women's Tennis Academy is a tennis academy based in the United Arab Emirates.

Background

It was established in 2009 by Sheikha Shaikha bin Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan.[1] Since its inception, the academy focused on training Emirati girls in tennis, to empower young female athletes in this sport.[2] It has collaborated with Abu Dhabi Ports Group, Burjeel Holdings, and Emirates NBA to host tournaments.[3] In 2011, the academy launched the SMK Women's Tennis Championship, to improve the skills of different Emirati women across different age groups.[4]

The SMK Women's Tennis Championship is held at the Palace of Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed Al Nahyan under the patronage of Sheikha Maryam.[5] The tournament happens for 15 days with a total of 33 matches.[1] The also tournament features fitness programs, workshops, and discussions on the and importance of exercise.[6][2]

The annual SMK Tennis Academy tournament saw Hania Kulaib win the singles category in 2017 and 2019, Yasmine Qasim Al Romaithi in 2018, Hadeel Al-Qadi in 2020, and Maha Bin Hindi in 2022.[3][4] For the double category Hania Kulaib and Hadeel Al-Qadi won in 2017, 2019 and 2020, Yasmeen Qassim Al-Romaithi and Sheikha Hamda bint Khalifa Al Nahyan in 2018.[1]
