The NeeRain is an Indian Rainwater harvesting company based in Ahmedabad, India. It was founded by Amit Doshi and Naishal Shah in 2018.[1] It's focus lies in rainwater harvesting. They employ patented technologies to efficiently capture rain water for daily usage and replenish groundwater reserves.[2][3] [4] It operates as an innovation-led venture and has received support from i-Hub, Ahmedabad and is currently incubated at Cradle, EDII Gandhinagar [5][6]

It was included under the Amrut 2.0 by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for water innovation initiative. [5][1]

History

NeeRain was founded by Amit Doshi, who decided to start a new business in 2018 after leaving his corporate job in waste management, where he had worked for 17 years.[7][8] He wanted to continue working in the environmental sector but took an entrepreneurial approach.[7] He chose to focus on rainwater harvesting due to a series of issues he discovered with existing systems. Thus, NeeRain came into existence.[9][10][11]

Product

NeeRain offers Rooftop Filters for rainwater harvesting[12] to raise Borewell water, such as the NeeRain Rooftop Rainwater Filters, NeeRain Ultra Rooftop Rainwater Filters, and the NeeRain+ Rooftop and Surface Rainwater Filters.[13][10]

The product filters rainwater through two stages of filtration. It removes large, small, and micro impurities and can work without human intervention and can be easily mounted on a wall or down a pipe, capturing rainwater through gravitational force.[14][10] It doesn't require electricity, has no moving parts, and doesn't need any consumable replacement or extensive maintenance.[15][16]

Services

NeeRain offers services in Rainwater harvesting, Groundwater recharge and Borewell Rejuvenation.[1][11]

Notable campaigns

NeeRain has made over 5,000 installations and saved an estimated 125 million liters of water in more than 250 locations across India, Asia, Africa, and America. Their patented NeeRain rooftop rainwater harvesting filter saves 60,000 liters of water each year.[9][17] It took the help of an agency called Savage Humans for raising awareness about rainwater harvesting among people.[18][19]

Achievements

The NeeRain rooftop rainwater filter won the CII's national Award for Excellence in Water management in 2022 in the innovative water-saving product category.[20][21] They were awarded the Water Leadership Award by The Economic Times in Bangalore.[22][23]
