Ebony Swank
Ebony Swank (born 22 March 1978) is an American fashion designer, businesswoman, founder, and CEO of Swank A Posh, a chain of brick-and-mortar and online retailer of women’s fast fashion clothing. She is known for having created the world’s stretchiest jeans and turning a failed retail clothing store into a multi-million-dollar eight-figure operation.[1]
Early life and career
Ebony Swank was born on 22 March 1978 in Detroit, Michigan. She left high school early and had her first daughter at the age of nineteen. Despite the challenges of being a young mother, she was determined to create a better life for herself.[2] While working multiple jobs and saving money, Ebony started her first entrepreneurial venture. However, a chance encounter with a clothing salesperson changed her career path forever. After learning about the revenue and profit potential in the retail clothing field, Ebony set out to open her first store in 2009.[3]
Career and achievements
With only $12,000 and an idea, Ebony realized that she had an opportunity to produce uniquely styled clothing for an underserved niche market of black women and diverse body types. She then took the remaining money from her original store, found a new cheaper brick-and-mortar location, and boarded a plane to Los Angeles to meet with various clothing vendors. After negotiating prices to purchase inventory, the new improved version of Swank A Posh was launched, which is now known as the world’s stretchiest jeans.
Swank A Posh has amassed a huge social media following. Known for its super stretchy SuperGa Jeans, trendsetting fashion, and popular try-on videos, Swank has become a go-to for women of all sizes, shapes, and ethnicities. Swank prides itself on providing stylish quality clothing at an affordable price that helps give women confidence by accentuating women's curves for all body types.
Swank A Posh has multiple locations in the Metro Detroit area and a massive online consumer base. Ebony has also been able to achieve one of her dreams by helping to employ young black women with entry-level experience and mentoring them into high-level executives who have the capability to handle any boardroom setting. Teaching women how to become comfortable and confident in their own skin is the mission of Swank A Posh.[4]
