Capital 4 Development (C4D) Partners is an impact investment fund manager investing in early-stage ventures across emerging markets and sectors to solve the often unheeded social and environmental challenges. History

2013 - Incorporation and Early Investments

C4D Partners was incorporated by ICCO Investments B.V. in 2013.As an Impact Fund Manager specializing in SME financing in Latin America, Africa, and Asia, C4D invested USD 15 million in over 30 SMEs, gaining valuable insights and experience that would shape its future investment strategies.

2017 - Launch of C4D Asia Fund

In 2017, C4D Partners spun out of ICCO Investments B.V. (later acquired by Cordaid Investment Management B.V.) and launched its Fund-1, the C4D Asia Fund. Fund-1 received significant interest from global institutional investors, including the Dutch Good Growth Fund (DGGF), Cordaid Investments, and FCA (Finn Church Aid).

It achieved its final close at USD 30 million in 2018. Over the subsequent years, C4D Partners invested in purpose-driven businesses across India, Indonesia, Nepal, the Philippines, and Cambodia. The organization collaborated closely with its portfolio companies, striking a balance between meaningful impact and market-rate financial returns.

2022 – Launch of C4D Bharat Shubharambh Fund

C4D Partners launched its second Fund in 2022. Fund-2, the Bharat Shubharambh Fund, is an India-dedicated sector-agnostic USD 75Mn Fund that will invest in early-stage ventures in the country with a continued emphasis on livelihoods, climate, and gender.

C4D Partners is a member of 2X Global, a global network of investors, capital providers, and intermediaries working in public and private markets across both developed and emerging economies.The impact fund manager not only achieved but exceeded the goals of the 2X Challenge, which is focused on fostering gender equity across the board.Additionally, C4D Partners is also a member of the Indian Venture and Alternate Capital Association (IVCA), Impact Investor’s Council(IIC), and India SME Forum.

Awards & Recognition

C4D Partners has been recognized for its work in the impact investing space. The firm has been awarded the Best Diversity Initiative at the ESG AAA European Awards 2022 and the Best Sustainable Finance at the ESG World Summit and GRIT Awards 2022. In 2021, company founder and CEO Arvind Agarwal was also honored with the Indian Achievers Award by the Indian Achievers Forum in recognition of his initiatives in building impact-driven and socially responsible businesses.

Leadership

The 12-member C4D Team in India is led by the company’s Founder & CEO, Mr. Arvind Agarwal. Arvind has over two decades of experience in the domain of alternative investment funds. He has expertise in strategy and financial planning and a keen eye for identifying socially driven investment opportunities. Through his work at C4D Partners, Arvind has supported over 15 social enterprises that are working toward creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for under-served communities across the country. Previously, Arvind worked with Goldman Sachs, Abu Dhabi Capital Management, and Evalueserve.
