Early Life

DeVonta’ Leon High aka Apex Tex was born November 1, 1996, in Fort Worth, Texas. He later moved to Pine Bluff, Arkansas with his mother in 1998. They will then move to Prince George’s County Maryland in 2002.

Education

Apex Tex was a well all-around athlete, playing football, baseball, basket, soccer, and, track and field. Once he entered high school, he focused on football and track and field. He graduated from Frederick Douglass High School in Upper Marlboro, Maryland in 2014. He also received and football scholarship from Howard University, Delaware State University, and Bowie State University. He accepted a Bowie State University scholarship where he played cornerback and won the 2015 CIAA Conference Rookie of the Year as a freshman. He also majored in communication/ public relations. Apex Tex graduated from Bowie State University in 2018.

Career

Apex Tex started taking an interest in music at an early age. His mother was a DJ in college. Growing up, Apex Tex grew up listening to 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, Hot Boyz, NWA, Gucci Mane, and Boosie Badazz. Apex Tex, wrote his first song when he was seven years old. By 2019, a year after graduating from Bowie State University, Apex Tex close friends Con$ciuos $ervin’, and Benj$mb, were locally-known recording artists around the DMV area. Apex Tex stated that they inspired him to make music. In 2019 Apex Tex released his first project on SoundCloud titled “Underground Prince”. In 2020 he and his Godbrother Scoobydrew released a collaboration

project tilted “Mystery Wolf”. In 2021 and 2022. Apex Tex released his most successful projects “Crank Potion” and “Route 4 Stories”. His single “Hickory Dickory Opp” which featured Ade’Nay and Benji$ is his most streamed single and most viewed song on YouTube which reached 30k views in 2 months. During an interview with DJ Small Eyez, Apex Tex revealed that he and popular Arlington, Texas artist SSG Splurge are blood cousins. notable family members include popular Fort Worth Texas artist $pud Boom and Def Jam artist Bobby Sessions.
