Angelina Lawton is an American entrepreneur who is known as the founder and CEO of Sportsdigita, a technology organization that specializes in helping organizations transform their sales into an immersive, media-rich, interactive conversation with its cloud-based presentation platform, Digideck. She has transformed the way 450+ of the biggest brands in the world sell globally. Prior to her career in sports technology, Lawton had a successful career in the financial services industry and the National Hockey League (NHL).[1][2]

Early life

Angelina Lawton formerly Angelina Rahn was born in Edina City in Minnesota. She has studied Bachelor of Arts at Arizona State University.

Career

After completing college, Lawton began her professional career in the Financial Services industry, working for Investment Advisors, Inc. (now known as Hill Samuel). During her eight-year tenure at the organization, she helped grow their venture capital activities to eclipse $16 billion and eventually worked her way up to being the Director of Corporate Communications. This was an impressive feat given the male-dominated nature of the financial industry.[3]

After her years on Wall Street, Lawton transitioned to the sports industry when she was named Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications for the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning. Here, she was in charge of “everything and anything with a Lightning logo on it”. During her time at the Lightning, Lawton realized the inefficiencies of PowerPoint when franchises pitched six and seven-figure deals. She knew there had to be a better way to bring the Lightning’s story to life in order to impress prospects, partners, and fans alike, which subsequently gave her the vision for Sportsdigita. [4][5]

In 2011, Lawton founded Sportsdigita and developed the DIGIDECK platform to help sports teams and organizations better showcase their stories to prospects, partners, and fans. DIGIDECK quickly grew in popularity and is now used by nearly 50% of all professional teams in the five major U.S. sports leagues (NHL, MLS, NBA, MLB, NFL). [6]

Under Lawton's leadership, Sportsdigita has become a successful sports technology company that helps organizations streamline their sales and marketing efforts through digital presentations. Lawton has been recognized for her contributions to the sports industry, including being named a "Game Changer" by the Sports Business Journal in 2018.[7]

In 2018, she was recognized as the most powerful woman in U.S. sports by Forbes along with Serena Williams and Condoleezza Rice.[8]

Personal life

In 1992, she married Brian Lawton and they presently reside in Minneapolis, Minnesota with their three children.
