DELILAH JUDY ALVARES is a Kuwait-born British actress, model and author [1] best known for her work in New York and India [2] She was the winner of Masque Best Actress Of The Year 2005 and ROCK Calendar Model 2012 [3] She was also one of the top 13 finalists at the Femina Beauty Pageants in 2013 [4] and the author of the psychological thriller The Maze (Dark Shadows) 2016 [5]

PERSONAL LIFE


Delilah Alvares was born in Al Sabah, Kuwait. She is the biological daughter of Mario Daniel Alvares (British Airways) and Debra Rodriguez (Cyprus Airways). As a child she was predominantly raised in Kuwait but grew up moving between Kuwait and Birmingham England [6]

After her mother's early passing, her father re-married and gave up her custody. She was then legally adopted by her mother's sister Judy Caleb (film producer) giving her a connection to India from where her career took flight. [7] She later made a brief move to New York[8] but eventually moved back to England [9]

CAREER


ACTING


Alvares started an early acting career with theater as an award-winning stage actress and play writer, being a part of several stage dramas before actively moving into films and television. She became known after her breakout role as Svetlana Rodrigues in the movie - Expect the Unexpected (2011) [10] Years later she made her return back to stage acting from screen acting.


MODELLING


After wining the title of ROCK's Calendar Model in 2012 [11] and making it to the top 13 finalists at the Femina Beauty Pageant in 2013 [12] she ventured completely into modeling. As a fashion model, her work stands out with renowned designers and photographers across various countries [13]

She has worked for several brands over the years but has continuously been a part of L'Oreal (hair) for several years [14] In 2021, she was listed as a Global Fashion Style Icon, having represented multiple countries and cultures over the years, joining the league of globally notable icons of the fashion and glamour industry[15]


WRITING


Alvares is the author of the psychological thriller The Maze: Dark Shadows published by Christopher Matthews Publishing, New York [16] She was noted as being among the youngest to have written in that genre at the time [17] She has also been the play writer on three full length plays - Four Wonders (2007), Ms. Brown (2007) and Murder Mystery (2008) [18] In 2016 she was listed on the 'National List of Notable Kuwaitis' for her international writing achievements[19]
