Asian University of Bangladesh (in Bengali এশিয়ান ইউনিভার্সিটি অফ বাংলাদেশ) or AUB is a private university in Bangladesh. It was established on 4 January 1996 by the Private University Act 1992.[1] The AUB permanent campus is at Ashulia. The university is affiliated by University Grants Commission (Bangladesh) and managed by Asian University Trust. On 17 April 2021, the University Grants Commission, found evidence of certificate forgery against the registrar, Faruq Ahmed, and suspected the involvement of other officials.[2] The university has been without a vice-chancellor since 2012 with Abul Hasan M Sadeq as the acting vice-chancellor.[2]

History

Students of Asian University of Bangladesh and Shanto-Mariam university vandalised each other's campuses in Uttara on 26 May 2008.[3]

On 14 August 2009, students at the Rajshahi campus of Asian University of Bangladesh protested outside the campus demanding to see government approval for the campus. The university in response closed down operations at the site.[4] On 25 August 2008, UGC ordered them to close all outer campuses as they did not have the required permission.[5]

On 18 November 2016, the University Grants Commission announced it will not be accepting certificates from Asian University of Bangladesh unless it is signed by a vice-chancellor appointed by the President of Bangladesh.[6]
