Machine Robo
Trim Sponsor is a heroic member of the Battle Clan who turns into a self-propelled howitzer and transport. Because of his mechanoid nature Trim Sponsor does not need to breath oxygen and is resistant to cold, but is vulnerable to intense magnetic fields. When he speaks his eyes light up. His howitzer weapon can be used to fire weaponized versions of the rainbow sands of Arambia at a target, including the absolute zero cold white sands and the inferno hot red sands.
He was raised in the Battle Clan settlement of Dakota, and was a childhood friend of Rod Drill.
Although called Trim Sponsor in the Revenge of Cronos animated series, his toy is called Tank Transer. The English dubs also call his alternate mode a Tank Trancer.
Development
Tank Transer appeared in a Japanese stop motion commercial by Bandai in 1986.[1]
Animated series
Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos
Trim Sponsor first appeared in Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos episode 9, "Dash Out, Tank Trancer!". Trim Sponsor and his lover Rudi were caught in a Gandora bantonium bomb explosion. Rudi died immediately, while Trim used what time he had left to steal the remaining bantonium from King Girandor. He hid the bantonium in an unliving android fashioned from the corpse of Rudi along with a recording of what had happened. The pair escaped to the deadly rainbow desert where he was pursued by Gandora Devil Soldiers. He was saved by his childhood friend Rod Drill and his companions, but refused to tell them the whole story, instead leading them to the dangerous green sands. When confronted by Rom Stol about stealing the bantonium he fought back briefly but then exploded due to his exposure to the bantonium bomb. Rom discovered Rudi and learned what happened from the recording. Trim was avenged when Rom killed King Girandor. Trim was buried in the desert by Rod Drill and his companions.[2]
Trim Sponsor, or perhaps his ghost, was seen walking near a monastery in episode 16, "Challenge of the Preacher Monk".[3]
Note: In some English subtitles of the series he is called Tony.
Machine Robo: Battle Hackers
Trim Sponsor appeared in Machine Robo: Battle Hackers episode 1, "Burning Electronic Planet".[4]
