Bangladesh (Bengali: বাংলাদেশ), officially known as the People's Republic of Bangladesh (Bengali: গণপ্রজাতন্ত্রী বাংলাদেশ), is a country located in South Asia. It is bordered by India to the north, west, and east, Myanmar to the southeast, and the Bay of Bengal to the south.
With a population of approximately 170 million people, Bangladesh is the eighth-most populous country in the world and one of the most densely populated. Its capital and largest city is Dhaka, which serves as the political, economic, and cultural hub of the nation.

Etymology
The name "Bangladesh" is derived from the words "Bangla" and "desh", which mean the "Land of the Bengalis".
History
