Ismael Abedin Ingelmo is a highly accomplished designer who has made significant contributions to the field of design. He began his artistic career in high school at the Art School of Salamanca before moving to Barcelona to study at the IED European Design Institute. During his time there, Ismael participated in interior and industrial design projects for renowned brands such as Camper Shoes, Balvi Furniture, and Lucky Strike.[1]

Early life

Ismael's journey continued as he received a prestigious scholarship to pursue his studies at the renowned School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York.[2] During his time at SVA, Ismael honed his skills in model making and photography, showcasing his talent as an event photographer in the vibrant city. In 2009, Ismael embarked on a new chapter by venturing to the Middle East, including destinations such as Kuwait, Dubai, Bahrain, and Qatar. He took on roles as an interior designer and planner, focusing on prestigious projects in the realms of hospitality, luxury hotels, offices, hospitals, and residential developments. Ismael's expertise also led him to deliver public speaking engagements at conferences such as Pecha Kucha.[3]

Career

He was awarded a scholarship to study at the SVA ( School of visual arts) in New York where he developed model making and photography skills. Ismael worked as photographer for events in NY,

In 2009 he moved to Middle East ( Kuwait, Dubai, Bahrain, Qatar) to work as an Interior designer & planner in areas of hospitality, 5 star hotels, office , hospitals , residential projects.


In 2010 he established in Shanghai where he got his UNEP. IESD-Tongji Masters degree on Engineering & Sustainability and did his research in sustainable tourism and design in UN-Habitat in Myanmar, there he acquired sensitivity towards the importance of the relationship between sustainability, tourism development and design


In China he completed successful design projects for brands as Bentley Cars, Twelve at Henshan Luxury Collection 5*Hotel, Holiday Inn hotels, Mercury Hotel Shanghai, Salt & Pepper Restaurant, Xinhua Bookstores, Naked hub Coworking offices ( Wework) etc. [4]


Ismael participated in several design events as design member Jury, Keynote speaker, round tables etc. ( see links for more information)

In 2017, he went to Barcelona- Switzerland to work as Coaching tutor forChallenge-Based Innovation (CBI), it is an experimental training programmed, that aims to bridge the gap between science and society by addressing relevant challenges.


A 3 university Joint Programme ( IED Barcelona, UPC, ESADE) Supported by CERN in Switzerland. The biggest research center in the world. Right now Ismael is Lecturing at AOD Sri Lanka the interior design program. As well Ismael is Founder of Colive.Me Coliving. With One hotel operating in Bali and one in Sri Lanka Ahangama Under construction. And he is owner of DXMID design firm in Shanghai, Barcelona and starting in Colombo as well.


He has been published in books such 100 Design portfolio, Beyond Black books, Fifteen of Fifty, ISCES Scientific journal,50 years etc.
