Megatron (Shattered Glass)
Megatron is the name of several fictional characters from the Transformers series.

2008 Shattered Glass Generation 1
This Megatron is a heroic mirror image of the usual Megatron character from the BotCon exclusive "Shattered Glass" comic, in which the Decepticons are on the side of good and the Autobots on the side of evil. Megatron transforms into a Cybertronian jet. He has a drone partner named Rumbler, who can act as a cannon for Megatron or form a neutronic blade weapon.
Fictional biography
As a young mathematician, Megatron lectured at one of Cybertron's most prestigious universities. During the course of his own studies, he had developed a set of equations that could predict social trends in a given society. He was alarmed when these trends pointed to a civil war on Cybertron. His colleagues dismissed his work as the paranoid ranting of a lunatic. He saw them as simply misguided and he retreated underground to prepare for the coming war. When Optimus Prime began his march across Cybertron, Megatron was ready. He had developed the art of transformation, refashioning his own body into one capable of converting to an aerial vehicle of tremendous power. While Optimus spread the gospel of destruction and conquest, Megatron championed compassion, courage and freedom. His charisma and humor in the face of a war helped him form a united front against the Autobots. Though Megatron is a pacifist at heart, he has the soul of a warrior as many have discovered time and again.
Comics
Fun Publications
In the Fun Publications story "Shattered Glass" Megatron recruits the Autobot Cliffjumper from an alternate reality to aid him against the Autobots of his world. He later leads an attack on the Autobot's Ark launch site. [1]
Megatron appears in the fiction Dungeons & Dinobots, a text based story. He defends the Arch-Ayr fuel dump from an Autobot attack. He later sends several of his troops to capture and reprogram the rogue Dinobots built by the mad Autobot scientist Wheeljack.[2]
Megatron is captured by the Autobot Targetmasters in Do Over, but was freed thanks to help by the Predacons and Whisper. When confronted by Optimus Prime he attempts to use the Autobot Targetmaster Nightstick to shoot the Autobot leader, but Nightstick takes control of Megatron's arm. Megatron then tricks Optimus into using Megatron's own weapon to cut Megatron's hand off, freeing him from Nightstick. Megatron misses the launching of the Decepticon ship Nemesis, which is taken over by Starscream to counter Autobot ship Ark.[3]
In Reunification, Megatron greets a Quintesson and the dimensional travelers Breakaway, Topspin Skyfall and Landquake after their escape from the Autobot combiner Computron. Megatron introduces the travelers to Heatwave, but then is shot by the traitor Cyclonus, who is working for Alpha Trion. The travelers try to combine their powers with Heatwave to return Megatron to life, but instead have a vision of Skyfall and are combined into Nexus Prime. Nexus Prime resurrect Megatron as Galvatron.
Transformers: Mosaic
Both Megatron and Galvatron appear as separate characters in the Transformers Mosaic story "I Will Be God" by Wout Jut.[4]
IDW Publishing
Megatron appeared in the IDW Publishing Shattered Glass series.
Megatron was originally a humble miner, but the injustices perpetuated by the corrupt Senate pushed him into becoming a prominent, if controversial, civil rights advocate, and, eventually, the founder of the Decepticon movement. Megatron's political struggles bemused his nominal friend, the power-hungry Orion Pax, who used his connections to spring Megatron from prison whenever the Decepticon leader got himself in trouble with the establishment, but over time disagreements drove a wedge between the two former friends.
After Cannonball perished in defending the Titan Net against the Autobots, Megatron attempted to properly recruit the crew of Rising Sea into the Decepticons only to be rebuked. [5]
Megatron crash-landed on Earth, and was stranded there until more Decepticons arrived to help repair him. The battle to defend the planet's supplies of Rarified Energon soon snowballed out of control into a destructive, world-changing conflict; although Megatron fought valiantly, it soon became clear that the Autobots would overrun his forces if he did not take drastic action.[6]
Megatron deliberately stayed behind to bait Optimus Prime into attacking him, willingly sacrificing his life so that Starscream and the other Decepticons could safely evacuate.
Despite his best efforts to take down Optimus with him, however, the Autobot leader proved too powerful and beat him to the brink of death.
Somehow, Megatron survived; when he awoke, the Decepticons had fled while the triumphant Autobots had already razed the planet and returned to Cybertron.
Eventually, the Decepticon leader scrounged up a ship and limped back to Cybertron; upon arriving, however, he discovered that the Autobots had conquered the planet and vanquished whatever remained of the defeated Decepticons.
Games
The Shattered Glass storyline was highlighted in a November 2014 event for the 2012 mobile game Transformers Legends. The event featured Megatron, Ravage and Soundwave confronting Goldbug, Grimlock, Ricochet and Rodimus.[7] Megatron's appearance was inspired by his original Timelines toy
Shattered Glass Megatron appeared in the 2016 mobile game Transformers: Earth Wars. In this game his body is inspired by the Combiner Wars toy, but in his Shattered Glass colors. He turns into a tank.
Shattered Glass Megatron appeared in the 2017 Forged to Fight game. He is depicted as the Combiner Wars Megatron toy with blue eyes and a red Decepticon symbol.
Both Generation 1 and Shattered Glass Megatron had cards in the Magic: The Gathering Brothers' War card game in 2022. His appearance is based on his 2021 toy.

This version of Megatron is a heroic counterpart of Transformers Animated Megatron. His colors are inspired by positive universe Ultra Magnus.
2015 Shattered Glass Transformers: Prime
A proposed but unrealized release by ehobby was Transformers: Prime Megatron and Gora recolored like Optimus Prime and O.P. for Shattered Glass Transformers: Prime.
2017 Shattered Glass TransTech
Megatron is the High Chancellor on the negative universe TransTech Cybertron. His subordinates included Airazor and Rhinox.
Megatron's colors are inspired by early illustrations of his TransTech toy.[8]

When the Shattered Glass TransTech discovered parallel Cybertrons, Megatron found these other worlds breathtaking and decided the TransTech should record their observations.
